History of Bingo

Today more and more people are familiarising themselves with online bingo, but most people do not know much about the historical beginnings of the game.

Bingo is a very old game that originated in Italy in the year 1530 when the Italians still called it Lo Giucco del D'Italia.
It didn’t take long before the game reached France where the French changed the game into their own version called Le Lotto. This game was solely for the wealthy men and women were banned from playing the game with the men.

In 1880 the game moved on to Germany, where the game was used as a teaching tool for children due to the many numbers it contains.
As a result many versions of Bingo were played in different countries of Europe, but the game Bingo, as we know it today, has its roots in the United States of America.

In 1929, it was known as Beano in the Southern parts of the state because the participants placed a dry bean on their bingo cards if they had the number that the caller shouted out. If a player formed a line of dry beans on the bingo card, he or she would yell “Beano”.

The change from “Beano” to “Bingo” became a reality when Edwin S. Lowe, who was a sales man in New York, came across the game and saw a big potential in it. So he hired a Columbian mathematics professor to help him increase the combination of numbers on the bingo cards to 6,000. Ever since Edwin S. Lowe changed the game of bingo, as we know it today, bingo has developed even more. It is no longer a game played in traditional bingo halls but has moved on to be a popular online gambling game played by a huge number of gamblers worldwide.

Online Bingo is more than just a way to win money, it is a game for the community where people can come together, interact and enjoy a relaxing time at the Bingo Hall.
